St. Petersburg College Scholarships

A few words from Professor John Williams at SPC to Chapter President Dan Glaser:

Hi Dan,

The 2009 St Petersburg College (SPC) Clearwater Campus Annual Awards Ceremony went beautifully and engineering students won several of the top awards.  It was held in the Fine Arts Auditorium and there were approximately 200 students, parents and teachers present.  Dan, your support and the support of the parent chapter has made a huge difference in elevating the Engineering Profession on the SPC Clearwater Campus.  Thank you very much. 

All cash awards were donated by The Pinellas Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society (FES) and presented by John Williams, faculty advisor to The SPC Student Chapter of FES.

The 2009 Clearwater Campus Engineering Award winners were:

Sean Swauger – $2000 – Sean will be attending USF in the fall and will major in Mechanical Engineering.  He has a 3.42 Grade Point Average (GPA) and served as Secretary-Treasurer of the SPC Student Chapter of FES during the 2008-2009 academic term.  In his spare time he enjoys racing dirt bikes, golf and fishing.

Nathan Davidson – $1500 – Nathan will be attending USF and will major in Computer Engineering.  He has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA and scored an 800 on the math portion of the SAT’s.  Nathan also won the award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in the Physical Sciences and for Outstanding Academic Achievement in Mathematics.  He is a student of Tai Kwan Do. 

Jason Quinn –  $750 – Jason will attend USF and major in Electrical Engineering.  He has a 3.30 GPA and plans to work in the Energy Field (Solar or Wind).  Jason served 8 years in the US Navy as a Nuclear Electronics Technician.

Toni Panaou – $750 – Toni will attend USF and major in Environment Engineering.  She has a 3.57 GPA and “would like to make a difference”.  She enjoys hang gliding and yoga.
